Wasabi Privacy Policy

Last updated November 1, 2026.

Wasabi is a texting app for chatting with fictional AI characters, made by blue bucket ("we", "us"). This policy says what Wasabi does with your information. Questions: [email protected].

The short version

Wasabi has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell your data. Your chats, characters, memories, pictures and voice notes live on your iPhone. To write replies, the app sends the chat to the AI providers you connect, or, if you use a beta code, through blue bucket's relay, which doesn't store or log what passes through it. The two things we do keep are a message you report (for 90 days) and an email address you give us to join the beta.

What stays on your iPhone

Your chats, characters, memories, pictures and voice notes are stored only on your iPhone, in the app's own storage. blue bucket does not receive a copy. Deleting the app deletes them. Settings also has "Delete everything". Your API keys are kept in the iOS Keychain on this device only, and are sent only to the provider they belong to.

What is sent to AI providers

To write a reply, Wasabi sends the recent conversation and the character's details to the provider that writes the text. Pictures are requested from OpenRouter, and voice notes are made by ElevenLabs. Wasabi asks you to allow each provider before anything is sent, on the screen shown during setup and again in Settings › Privacy & data. If you say no, nothing is sent to it.

Once a provider receives your data, its own terms and privacy policy govern what it keeps and how it uses it:

  • Anthropic: https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy
  • OpenAI: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy/
  • OpenRouter: https://openrouter.ai/privacy
  • ElevenLabs: https://elevenlabs.io/privacy

With your own keys, this traffic goes straight from your iPhone to the provider, and blue bucket never sees it.

OpenRouter

Wasabi asks OpenRouter to use only providers with zero data retention. If a model has no such provider, Wasabi sends the request without that limit and that provider's own policy applies. By default OpenRouter doesn't store your prompts unless you opt in to logging in your own OpenRouter account.

ElevenLabs and voice notes

ElevenLabs keeps each generated voice note in its History. When you delete a voice note, delete a chat, or erase everything, Wasabi also asks ElevenLabs to delete its copy. This is best effort and needs a network connection, so check your ElevenLabs History if you want to be sure.

Wasabi beta access

If you use a beta code from blue bucket, Wasabi uses blue bucket's OpenRouter and ElevenLabs accounts instead of your own keys. Your requests then pass through blue bucket's relay, which runs on Cloudflare and forwards them to OpenRouter (replies and pictures) or ElevenLabs (voice notes and calls).

The relay does not store or log what you send or what comes back. It keeps only what it needs to apply your allowance and keep the beta safe: a one-way hash of your code, how many requests you made and what they cost per day, and a public key from your iPhone. Voice notes made through blue bucket's ElevenLabs account are deleted from its History right after they are made.

To keep a beta code from being used outside the app, Wasabi uses Apple's App Attest. Your iPhone makes a key that Apple confirms belongs to the genuine Wasabi app, and the relay keeps the public half to check each request. It says nothing about you.

Voice you record

If you record a voice message, it is transcribed on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The transcript is what gets sent to your chosen provider, not the audio. If your iPhone can't transcribe that language on the device, the voice message is sent without its words, and the character knows only that you sent one.

Calls (a beta feature, off unless you turn it on in Settings) work differently: while a call is on, your voice is streamed to the speech-to-text provider you picked for calls to turn it into text, and the character's reply is spoken by your voice provider. Wasabi doesn't keep a recording of the call.

Reports

Every AI message has a Report button. If you use a beta code, a report goes to blue bucket. It contains the message you reported, the reason you picked, your optional note, the character's name, the AI model, the app version and the message's id. It never includes the chat around the message. We keep it for 90 days, linked to your beta code, so we can review it, and we post a short excerpt of the message to our private team chat so we hear about it quickly. You can send up to 20 reports a day.

Without a beta code, reports are saved on your iPhone only, and we don't receive them.

Blocking

You can block a character from their profile or from the chat list. A blocked character's chat is hidden, and they stop messaging, calling and speaking in your groups. This happens on your iPhone only, and you can unblock them in Settings › Privacy & data.

Safety

If you write about harming yourself, the chat shows a card with crisis helplines for your region. Wasabi keeps a count on your iPhone of when this happened and whether it looked urgent, never the words or the chat, and never sends it to us.

Joining the beta from the website

If you ask for a beta invite on our website, we keep the email address you give, the optional note, the page you used and the time, only to send you a TestFlight invite and contact you about the beta. You can ask us to delete it at any time by writing to [email protected].

Crash logs

We don't collect crash logs ourselves. If you choose to share one with us through Apple, we may use it to fix bugs.

Who we share data with

We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. The only sharing is with the services that make the app work, described above: the AI and voice providers you allow, Cloudflare (which runs the relay), and Apple (TestFlight, App Attest and on-device speech).

Age

Wasabi is for adults aged 18 and over. Every character is a fictional adult, 21 or older. It isn't meant for children, and we don't knowingly collect anything from them. If you think a child has used it, write to [email protected].

Your choices

You can delete any chat, character, memory, picture or voice note in the app, erase everything in Settings, remove your keys, or delete the app. To delete a report or your waitlist email, write to [email protected] and tell us the email or beta code you used. To delete data held by a provider, use that provider's own tools.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
